WCIW: Meet Jacqueline Wild

Welcome to this week's WCIW, where we interview one of our community members from Instagram. Today's guest is Jacqueline Wild from Glitter and Earth.

1. What's your name?

Jacqueline Wild

2. What’s the name of your business and what products/services do you offer?

My business is called Glitter and Earth and I am an illustrator, printmaker and designer.

3. Let's get to know you! Tell us 3 facts about yourself

Fact 1: I thought I was going to be a writer not an artist

Fact 2: I’m fascinated by all things magical and witchy

Fact 3: I try to live in sync with the moons phases

4. What inspired you to start your own bizz?

After the birth of my daughter I found myself drawn to expressing myself artistically. It was like my brain had got rewired and pictures became more important to me than words.

5. Where do you find your motivation?

My motivation comes from a desire to spread a little magic and wonder in the world. What I am going to say next is probably really bad for a business owner to say, but making people happy is a lot more important to me than making money.

6. What do you do to feel more inspired/motivated on the days that can feel a little mundane?

I am lucky to live in Cornwall where I can go on amazing, wild, coastal walks and drink in the sea air. There is so much history here with tales of smugglers and pirates and mermaids that the mundane doesn’t effect me too much! I like to look for the magic in nature and that is always changing and offering something new.

7. What are some daily revenue-generating activities that really move the needle in your bizz?

I make most of my income via Etsy and so it’s important that I do something everyday on the site like adding a new listing or working on product photography. I’m also working on images for a new astrological moon diary for 2021 and so creating new products keeps my pretty busy too.

8. What kind of tasks are better to automate vs manually do each day/week?

I do everything manually!

9. If you could give advice to another woman starting her own bizz in the same industry/field, what would it be?

I would say learn what you can about business and marketing and social media and then learn some more! Joining groups on Facebook with your target market is useful and listening to podcasts can help you to stay motivated and learn more about the industry. I love The Creative Pep talk with Andy J Pizza and the Honest Designers. I’d also say that you need to have courage because it’s not the easiest path to navigate, but also that it’s worth it if you want to live the life you want.

10. Share with our community where they can follow you and your bizz (website, socials, etc)
